DareArts
was honoured to aaccept the invitation
to open Youth Day 2008, July 26th,
at Tornto CityHall with the choir
singing 'O Canada' with singer Carlos
Morgan. Then later in the day, two
DARE2B teams from north-west schools
staged a mock B-Boy battle, lead
by their teachers, Jon Reid and
Lee Pham from Back To The Underground,
our education partners in this pilot
program. DareArts was made so proud
by these awesome young people!

DAREarts
Grads Explore the Shaw Festival
On September
27th, forty of our DAREarts
Grads and their teachers trekked,
by Canada Coach
(our travel sponsor) down
to Niagara-on-the-Lake to
see Arms and the Man by George
Bernard Shaw at the Shaw Festival.
In the morning, the lucky
grads were treated to a behind-the-scenes
tour of the production, followed
by workshops led by Shaw staff
and our teacher Jennifer Gillespie,
with David Hannan and Anne
Lyons, where the group explored
the play’s themes of
valour, integrity and identity.
Then they enjoyed a complimentary
lunch on the terrace, before
an hour of “free time”
to meander through the pretty
town. Of course, the highlight
of the trip was the play itself,
proving that education can
be fun!
Special thanks to our generous
sponsor, Lombard Insurance
for this special day.
