On Thursday, May 4, 2017 at The Carlu, Toronto, DAREarts will host our annual DAREarts Leadership Awards gala, celebrating the power of the arts to ignite change in the lives of at-risk children across Canada.
Join Antoni Cimolino, Artistic Director of the Stratford Festival as the 2017 DAREarts Cultural Award recipient, along with corporate and community leaders to invest in DAREarts’ highly effective programs that empower at-risk youth and then attend this evening to hear from the youths themselves how you have impacted their lives.
Presented by DAREarts’ Presenting Supporter, Northbridge Insurance, and our five Lead Sponsors, six teens will receive a scholarship and share their remarkable stories.
Last year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated DAREarts on our 20th Anniversary, and offered words of encouragement to the six youth Leadership Award Recipients:
Senator Murray Sinclair was also honoured for leading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. He told the youth: stay focused while using your skills; the only person who can determine your destiny is you. He then reminded us all that our young people need to know they have options, because options - when life is hard - provide hope.
DAREarts graduate Shamin was interviewed on Classical 96.3 FM, plus DAREarts Founder & President Marilyn Field and Patina Prize recipient Dante Scholar were interviewed on CBC Fresh Air. Hear Shamin's interview below:
